National Mutt Day / Special Education Day

National Mutt Day

December 2

The ASPCA estimates 3.3 million dogs are brought to shelters each year, with more than 80% being mixed breeds. A mutt (or mongrel) does not belong entirely to 1 breed. There are in excess of 150 million mutts worldwide. Mixed breed dogs are generally considered healthier than purebreds because they draw from a broader gene pool.
