Kid Inventor Day
January 17
Kid Inventors Day falls on Benjamin Franklin’s birthday (January 17, 1706) and celebrates opportunities children have, especially through STEAM programs, to use their ingenuity and fresh ideas to create inventions which impact the world. In 1930, at age 16, George Nissen came up with an idea that would revolutionize acrobatics: the trampoline. Frank Epperson was only 11 when he created the first popsicle. Ralph Samuelson invented water skis in 1922 at the age of 18.
Ditch New Year’s Resolutions Day
January 17
According to The Trumpet website, “nearly 80 percent of all people who make New Year’s resolutions fail to keep them by the second week in February. Another study showed that only 8 percent achieve their New Year’s resolution as a whole. This means that 92 percent of those who make resolutions fail. So, if you’re one of the 92% who eventually will give up on your New Year’s resolution, why wait? Today is dedicated to giving up.
