National Bad Breath Day

February 15

This day is dedicated to stopping those embarrassing moments when you realize your breath has a foul order. Some of the causes of halitosis (the medical term for bad breath) are foods such as onions, garlic, canned tuna, horseradish and several different types of beverages including coffee and alcohol. Certain kinds of medications, such as sedatives, antidepressants, antihistamines, anorexiants, and antipsychotics can all play a major role in the development of halitosis. Xerostomia, or dry mouth, can be a contributor. And there are other causes ranging from dentures and tobacco to acid reflex. The remedies:  clean your teeth after every meal, use mouth wash and take breath mints.
