A Slice Of Italy In Waxahachie

Italian food is my favorite, so we had to find a local restaurant that has a large menu, offers a wine list, and is open most nights. Tuscan Slice Restaurant in Waxahachie meets these requirements by offering a wide selection of consistently good Italian food.

Over the years we have tried many of the items on the menu but varying from our favorites is sometimes difficult. The Tuscan Bruschetta is our normal starter. This dish doesn’t take the traditional form; instead, this bruschetta is basically a chopped salad with artichokes, olives, pesto, balsamic vinegar, basil, and some other really good ingredients. The salad mixture is served with crostini that are drizzled with pesto. We prefer not to eat the Crostini and save room instead for the luscious olive oil and garlic drenched pizza crust that is served after you order. This bread is highly addictive!

If I’m not too hungry, I sometimes have the appetizer of mussels for my meal, but the Tuscan trio, which gives diners a taste of three different types of stuffed pasta, is a go-to dish for me, also. Another pasta, the lasagna, passed my lasagna test and the serving is large enough for me to share.

If you prefer non-pasta dishes, Tuscan Slice also has excellent salmon and tilapia dishes, especially the crab-crusted plates. The wine list is small, but we have found wines we like here. They also have a full bar which offers a cozy dining option.

Tuscan Slice has good, thin-crust pizza with many topping choices. Our grandchildren love going because they are given raw pizza crust to roll out, their choice of toppings to add, and then they can take their creation to the pizza oven and watch it while it is baked to perfection.

Tuscan Slice has a large private-dining area and a large bar as well as the main restaurant. The restaurant is a staple for us, although I do wish they would add traditional espresso and cappuccino to the menu for a perfect finishing touch.
