Bridge Builders

Today there are so many politicians and commentators saying that they have all the answers to the current crisis’ we face. Some of what they say may be true; however, it is very painful to watch the walls of division going up as they pull us against one another.

Be a bridge builder between people of ALL cultures and not a wall builder between people.

As Christians let us remember that we are one body with many members. 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 tells us, For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.”

Also as Christians we must remember that we are Christ-like and that Christ was the ultimate bridge builder, restoring and reconciling relationship after relationship.

Let us learn to love without prejudices, listen with open minds, and know that everyone will not agree with your thoughts, opinions, and values.

We know that it is much easier to tear down a bridge than it is to build one, but the work of building must be done. In my city we are currently experiencing what seems like a never ending process of constructing an actual bridge. It takes months and sometimes years of planning and then the long process of executing the plan begins. And although it seems very inconvenient to alter my travel plans from time to time or to be delayed in my commute every now and then, I know that the inconvenience I now face will be well worth it in the near future.

Bridge building, it is a tough job that must be done and the more people working towards building them the easy it job will be.

Are you a bridge builder? If not, consider being one.

God bless you,
