Confidence, do you have? Do you need it?
What is confidence? Confidence is the feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something; it is firm trust.
Having confidence can be a game changer in life. Having confidence sometimes makes all the difference in the world to what you are trying to accomplish. And without confidence we often fall short of these accomplishments.
I once preached a sermon titled, “What You Think Matters Most?” We must be confident and know who God has called us to be. Also, without confidence, we are no match to the enemy. The enemy will whisper things to you that causes you to doubt. We must not listen to the enemy and all the lies he has to tell.
The Bible encourages us with these words found in Hebrews 10:35-36, “…do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.”
So yes, you do need confidence! It is our confidence that gives us the drive to get up in the morning and face life and challenges that life may present. And I get it, sometimes life throws you that unexpected curve ball that really seems to challenge your confidence. At that point we must remember that we are to also have confidence in God and His abilities. After all, is there anything too hard for God?
Look, Abraham was 99 years old when the Lord promised to bless him with a son by his wife Sarah who was 90 years old and she was barren. Both Abraham and Sarah laughed at the thought of this coming to reality; however, the Bible says that while Abraham lost confidence in himself, he found confidence in God. We know the end of the story; Abraham and Sarah conceived a child, and their son Isaac was born unto them just as God promised.
We need to hold on to our confidence, because our confidence is tied to receiving what God has promised us.
I have confidence, do you?
God bless you,
