Donald Duck Day / Wine And Dine Day

Donald Duck Day

June 9

June 9 isn’t a randomly chosen day for Donald-centric celebrations: It marks the first time Donald appeared on the big screen in 1934. Like Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald and Daisy Duck are one of Disney’s most beloved couples, but Donald’s first squeeze was Donna Duck. Fans of Donald know that he is the uncle to the plucky young ducks Huey, Dewey, and Louie, whose mother is Donald’s twin sister known by several names including Thelma, Della, or Dumbella in various incarnations. Donald’s mother Hortense married into the Ducks when she hooked up with Donald’s dad, Quackmore.

Wine and Dine Day

June 9

In 2018 it was estimated there were 660,755 restaurants in the USA with combined employment of more than 13 million people. Of course, many of those eateries were not exactly a place you would take a significant other or a guest on a special occasion. There are approximately 30,000 restaurants in America that take reservations which seat near 600,000 patrons annually. There are only three restaurants which are currently honored as 3-star Michelin restaurants. One of them, Jean Georges, offers a full tasting menu at $198 per person. You can wine and dine at Olive Garden for considerably less.
