Finding Time

A few months ago, the world and life itself seemed to slow down. Things slowed down so that many of us felt as though we had more time to do nothing than we needed. During this time, the 24-hour day often felt like a 7-day week. We did not have to find time to do anything, it felt as though time had found us and it came with an abundance. We had an abundance of time for God and family, which at the time seemed to be what mattered most.

After some time, things picked back up to speed leaving us having to find time for God again and having to find time for what matter most to Him. Many of us found ourselves back having to find time for family again, which only a few months ago seemed to be the only thing that mattered.

Listen, I know that there are so many things that fight for our attention and devotion: our jobs, hobbies, responsibilities, and other personal interest. However, we must be careful to not allow anything to become more important or more of a priority than our relationship with God.

The first of the Ten Commandments tells us, “You shall have no other gods before Me.” Exodus 20:3.

We must put God and the things that matter to God first!

First? Coming before all others in time or order; foremost in position, rank, or importance.

Deuteronomy 5:8-9 says, “You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind, or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods.”

Yes, God is jealous for us and as Christians He expects to be first on our list of priorities.

Jesus was very serious when it came to prioritizing and He always did that which pleased the Father. If we are Christ-like, we must do the same and find time to put God and the things that matter most to Him first!

God bless you,
