International Hot & Spicy Food Day / National Nothing Day

International Hot & Spicy Food Day

January 16

If food with a kick is your spice of life, today is your day. Here’s some interesting facts about hot and spicy foods. The “heat” one experiences from spicy foods is measured in Scoville Heat Units (SHU). The tabasco sauce in a bottle comes in at 2500-5000 SHUs. The hottest pepper in the world, the Carolina Reaper, registers 2.2 million SHU or 200 times hotter than a jalapeno pepper. There are 140 different peppers grown just in Mexico.  People who love fiery food are known as pyro-gourmaniacs.

National Nothing Day

January 16

Occurring every January 16th, this day is devoted to doing absolutely nothing. It is a day to be lazy and not feel guilty. It was made for couch potatoes to snack and watch mindless TV. You can’t celebrate National Nothing Day because to do that one would be doing something. So just chill out and realize a day has been set aside to kick back and decompress.

Today’s Birthdays of Note….
