Love Your Neighbor – August

Patience

Be patient with everyone. (I Thessalonians 5:14)

Give me what I want and need NOW!! I mean it – hurry up and provide! Below are some examples of lack of patience witnessed lately:

  • People on Facebook posting words of anger, bad language, info regarding SELF, requesting words that indicate NOW – immediate gratification!
  • People bumping the car in front of them just because they are in a 26-car line for coffee and want their coffee NOW!!
  • A car running a RED light with no regard to the danger it placed on other drivers? “I’m in a hurry.”
  • A pickup truck passing on a hill when there was clearly a solid line – no passing zone?

Are these infractions due to the stress of COVID-19 and people just seem to be in a hurry and IMPATIENT? It seems the longer we are practicing “taking precautions” the less patient folks are. Is it due to being out of our “norm” and loss of control? Probably! I even find myself saying, “Can’t we all just get along and be nice to one another?”

We can IF we follow God’s direction and live out His Word – the Bible. May I encourage you to “Love Your Neighbor” by what Paul said in Thessalonians 5:14 as well in his letter to the Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” (NASB)

Try it – you will be amazed at the results when you determine to “be patient with everyone.”
