(February 21, 2023) – Meals on Wheels North Central Texas is excited to announce a fantastic Matching Grant opportunity! Every dollar donated to our Capital Campaign: Building with Love before May 1 will DOUBLE up to $100,000, thanks to a matching gift from Hoblitzelle Foundation. We invite our communities to join us in this amazing journey, and to assist in reaching our goal to receive the full match amount.
Each day, 12,000 Americans turn 60 years old, resulting in a rapid increase of the senior population. This, combined with our now 3,401 square-mile service area, has lead the organization to outgrow our current space, leaving us with no room to grow.
Our Capital Campaign: Building with Love, includes:
- A large 40×40 square-foot freezer, providing much needed space to hold food.
- Office space for staff to properly care for our seniors, providing the privacy needed to have personal conversations with senior adults and family members.
- A training space to ensure all of our staff and volunteers are equipped with the means necessary to respond appropriately in delicate situations. And so much more.
This major feat comes with great cost, but is necessary in fulfilling our mission:
Ending hunger and isolation.
Delivering dignity and independence.
We need 4.3 million dollars to complete this project! Sixty-three percent of the needed donations have already come in, but thirty-seven percent, 1.5 million dollars, is still needed. Right now – every dollar (up to $100,000) DOUBLES in impact until May 1!

About Meals on Wheels North Central Texas
Meals on Wheels North Central Texas is a community-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves homebound seniors and disabled persons. Established in 1976, the organization began serving senior adults in Johnson County. In 2001, Meals on Wheels North Central Texas answered its first call for expansion, accepting and serving seniors in Ellis County. Then, in 2020, the organization expanded again to include Navarro County, followed by another expansion into Somervell and Hood counties in 2022.
We mobilize across 3,401 square miles each week day to ensure our seniors are well-fed, safe, and reminded of their value to their community.
Services are targeted toward 60 years and older focusing on those who are homebound, older in age, low income, isolated, frail, or incapacitated. Meals on Wheels also acts as a resource for families caring for needy elderly and disabled loved ones.
The philosophy of Meals on Wheels is simple. Emphasis is placed on individuals versus numbers; communities as opposed to governmental boundaries; and timely services versus waiting lists.
