National Cappuccino Day

November 8

Cappuccino is a word which comes from the Capuchin Friars depicting the color of the hood of the friars’ robe. The drink is made with expresso coffee, hot milk and a “hood” of foam.  In Italy cappuccino is consumed in the morning to get a kickstart on the day. In other parts of Europe it is served after a person’s dinner. The origin of the coffee drink can be traced to Italy in the 1600s. The first contemporary espresso machine was introduced in 1945.
