The very first fast food location in the U.S. was a White Castle in Wichita, Kansas opened in 1921.  That same year the first drive-in diner was opened in Dallas called the Pig Stand. The first McDonalds was launched in 1948 in San Bernardino, California. In 2017, people in the United States spent more than $208 million dollars on fast food. There are over 300,000 fast food locations in our nation.

Sound of Music Opens On Broadway

November 16, 1959

Possibly the most famous play created by Rogers and Hammerstein, the Sound of Music, opened at the Lunt Fontanne Theatre in New York City and ran 1443 performances. The original play starred Mary Martin and Theodore Bikel and won 5 Tony Awards. In 1965, the movie premiered starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer and won 5 Academy Awards.
