Patience

Waiting on a healing, waiting on a breakthrough, waiting on a change… Lord give me the patience that I need to endure this wait!

Throughout scripture, God commands His people to, “Wait on the Lord.”

But why? God is the Lord Almighty. He can make things happen whenever He wants. Yet He sees so many advantages to us when we wait on Him.

Advantages? Yes, advantages! We must trust that waiting on God is a good thing. Waiting on the Lord produces patience. And patience is an important key for Christian living. In fact, patience is listed as a fruit of the Holy Spirit of God.

Patience is the ability to endure hardships and inconvenience without complaint. And oh, what a challenge it can be.

How often do you not display the proper patience when called to? For me, it is far too often. But thank God that He is not as impatient as we can be.

We must learn to exercise more patience in this impatient world we live in.

When we are impatient is causes us to be rude and unkind, and this is not the Christian way of living.

When we are impatient it also causes us doubt and not wait on God, which will cause a conflict with what God has planned for us.

Remember that Abraham was 75 years old when God told him that he was going to be a father. But what God did not tell Abraham was that he would have to wait awhile. Abraham trusted that God’s Word would come to pass but because he had to wait so long, he grew impatient. This caused Abraham to lose sight of the promise which resulted in him lacking faith. Out of his own will, Abraham and his wife Sarah plotted to have a child born of Hagar, Sarah’s handmaid, that Abraham would father. This child named Ishmael was not the promised seed and eventually would cause problems with the promised seed Isaac

Listen, anything obtained outside of God’s timing and outside of the will of God will cause conflict and hinderance!

Remember, waiting on God is a good thing!

The Bible says in the book of Isaiah, “Blessed are all who wait for God.” Isaiah 30:18

My friends, patience is a virtue!

God bless you,
