This week I’m excited to share a piece that is inspired by one of my personal favorite movies, Ratatouille. With that said, let’s get into it!
Ratatouille is a lot of things, and it’s not just a story about a rat that has been gifted the special talent of cooking or a movie made for just kids to enjoy. Ratatouille is also a story about dreaming big and chasing what you are passionate about, and not just doing what’s expected of you. It’s a story that reminds us of the importance of art and the power and impact that it has to change people’s lives for the better. Lastly, it’s also a story about food and the art of preparing it.
Most people look past the art of cooking as an art form, and I think that Ratatouille does a really good job at not only proving that it is, but also providing a great story about art and how it can effect people for the better, regardless of its medium. I think that art is anything that is created or prepared to invoke an emotion or a reaction. In other words, art makes you feel. Art can move people in a way that can’t be explained or replicated.
This week’s art piece is inspired by the scene in ratatouille where Remy eat a piece of cheese and a strawberry together. This scene really speaks to me because it is a great example of how art can touch people in a way nothing else can. This scene also serves as a reminder that for all the artists out there who want to not only create but share this incredible, inspiring, indescribable feeling with others. This one’s for the chefs, critics, painters, writers, directors and all the chasers of the indescribable feeling.
So, as we rest in the heart of the holiday season with Thanksgiving now behind us and Christmas just around the corner, remember this when you were/are stuffing your faces with delicious food – just remember to thank the one who has given you that indescribable feeling. Special thanks to Becky for doing exactly that for us here in DownHome on Becky’s Kitchen!
