SAGU Alumna Angel L. Bowles Recognized for the “M. Paul Brooks Award for Excellence in Bible & Theology”

Angel Bowles, a Waxahachie, Texas resident, has been awarded the “M. Paul Brooks Award for Excellence in Bible & Theology” for their dedication and demonstration of excellence this year in the College of Bible and Church Ministries at Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU). This award is part of the 23 awards being given to recognize students who have displayed outstanding performance in various areas of ministry. All recipients are part of the 2022-2023 SAGU senior class.

The College of Bible and Church Ministries at SAGU is dedicated to equipping students in their God-given calling and preparing students to serve the church and community. The college offers four departments that are designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and passion needed to fulfill their callings. Each department identifies those students that have shown excellence in their specific areas of ministry.

“As dean of the College of Bible and Church Ministries at SAGU, I am privileged to work with a world-class faculty who lead exceptional students,” says Dr. Clancy Hayes. “Students in our College desire to serve God and their communities through vocational and marketplace ministries. This year we have expanded our academic awards to include those who excel in Bible/Theology; Church Leadership; Intercultural Studies; and Behavioral Sciences and Community Services. The faculty select students based on academic merit, personal character, and their potential to change their worlds. I am incredibly proud of this year’s recipients.”

These awards not only acknowledge the hard work put in by each recipient but also inspire other students to strive towards excellence in their studies as well as their faith journey with God. The 23 award winners were honored during a special ceremony on May 6th,2023 during SAGU’s chapel service.

As a leading Christian university, SAGU educates and prepares individuals who want to serve Christ and others. SAGU helps students discover and develop their God-given callings in a Spirit-empowered, learning community. We believe in affordable tuition, made possible in part through the financial support of donors who embrace the mission of SAGU and the importance of affordable, accredited programs to train Christians for leadership in ministry, business, education, and service. Most majors are available in person in Waxahachie, TX, and online through a wide range of associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees.
