World Refugee Day / World Juggling Day

World Refugee Day

June 20

According to the UNHCR, there are 65.3 million forcibly displaced people around the world. On average, 42,500 people per day flee their homes to seek protection within the borders of their own country or other countries. Each year on June 20 the United Nations, United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and countless civic groups around the world host World Refugee Day events in order to draw the public’s attention to the millions of refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide who have been forced to flee their homes due to war, conflict and persecution.

World Juggling Day

June 20

The earliest depiction of juggling is painted on an Egyptian tomb dating from almost 2000 years BC. Juggling burns 280 calories an hour, about the same as playing badminton. Enrico Rastelli (1896 – 1931) is often considered to be the greatest juggler of all time. Even though he never managed to juggle 9 balls at once, he could juggle ten balls at once! He was also one of the first jugglers to juggle with large balls such as leather footballs.
