Yoga originated in India more than 5,000 years ago. It is considered one of the oldest physical disciplines on earth and was originally practiced as a form of healing and inspired by Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. The word yoga means yoke or union. There are 19 different types of yoga and 66 official postures. There are 15.8 million, or 6.9%, adults in the U.S. practicing yoga of which 72% are women and 28% are males.

National Tootsie Roll Day

In 1931, the inventor of Tootsie Rolls, Leo Hirschfield, named his candy creation after his daughter, Clara, whose nickname was “Tootsie.” According to some accounts, Ole Blue Eyes, Frank Sinatra was buried with Tootsie Rolls (his favorite candy) along with a few other items including cigarettes, a lighter, and a bottle of Jack Daniels.
