Autumn Activities For Seniors

Fall is here, and with it comes a whole new variety of activities, sights, smells and flavors. The cooler temperatures make it possible to venture outside and enjoy the changes.

As we age, one of the most important things we can do for our health is to remain active, and the changing season brings plenty of opportunities to try new things and take full advantage of this beautiful time of the year.

You can go for a walk and enjoy the crisp blue sky and bright-colored leaves. You could also go for a leisurely drive to marvel in the majesty! If nothing else, sit on your porch or patio and take it all in.

One thing I just love about fall is that it is festival season! Check your local papers and you will see numerous festivals, parades, and activities all around your area. Some are big such as the Christmas parades in surrounding towns or Bethlehem Revisited, but others may be smaller like the parties and programs many schools and churches have at this time of the year.

If you like sports, there are lots of options. Of course, college and NFL football are popular pastimes for many people. Perhaps you could make a few dips and invite friends to help you cheer on your favorite teams!

When it gets a little too chilly to be outside, get in your most comfy clothes, light a fire in the fireplace if your have one, or just wrap up in a blanket and snuggle up with a good book. What could be better than that?
