Meet Me on the Porch!

It’s officially summer, and the perfect time to do some casual outdoor entertaining.  How about a “porch party”?  The whole point of a porch party is to keep things easy so even the hosts can have fun!  I found a web site called Zabitat that has 10 entertaining ideas for a casual porch party.  One idea is to keep things very informal such as using a variety of seating options.  How about hanging little twinkle lights?  What about a bucket of sidewalk chalk for budding artists both young and old? CLICK HERE to read more.

Let’s Grill and Chill

A little bit of planning will help to make your porch party a success and one that you can enjoy too.  This next website has some excellent tips on how to make your outdoor party a wonderful experience for you and your guests. It says music is the key to setting the mood of the party, so get your playlist going!  Set up do-it-yourself beverage bars, and serve finger foods.  How about some melon sangria, individual 7-layer dip cups and loaded tater-tot skewers?  All these recipes and more are on the website. CLICK HERE to read more.

Gather the Hood

Porch parties can be as simple or as elaborate as you want.  One neighborhood in Indiana started having porch gatherings every Sunday night for food and fun.  The host always provides the main course, but everyone else brings a dish to share so no one has to be in the kitchen all day.  Porch parties need a basic theme, no-nonsense food and drink, and a simple seating arrangement that allows for good conversation.   There are also some recipes on this site such as Caprese Salad Skewers and Brown Sugar Bourbon Glazed Bacon. CLICK HERE to check it out.

Please share any ideas you may have on porch parties!
